Sophisticated or hard-to-explain offerings often struggle to find clear positioning, and marketing built around one person’s involvement rarely survives that person leaving. Jen works with purpose-led founders and leaders to solve both problems at once, building marketing as a repeatable system the team can run on its own, not a dependency on her.
She’s a Fractional CMO based in Cape Town with over 20 years of experience across large corporates, banking groups, fintechs, SaaS companies, startups and SMEs, spanning financial services, retail, e-commerce, media, hospitality and beyond. Her core expertise runs across strategic marketing and brand, customer experience and journey design, growth and commercial strategy, marketing automation and AI, and team culture and mentoring. She holds herself to a “teach to fish” philosophy: equipping teams to run sustainably and independently rather than relying on her indefinitely. She’s active in Civitas, the OneUp-OneDown global mentorship programme, and Fractionation.
At Capitec Bank, she was part of the team that landed the “simplicity” positioning that came to define the brand, helped spearhead a companywide sales and service initiative that won Capitec multiple AskAfrika Orange Index service awards between 2011 and 2015, and drove the launch and adoption of their direct sales division. Her fractional work since has included Electrum, Currency Partners, ServCraft, Daily Maverick, Bed King and The Neurodiversity Centre, among others, and she’s picked up recognition along the way, including a Top Student and Top Group award from the International Executive Development Programme at Wits Business School and Bayes Business School London.
Jen’s driving belief is simple: real growth comes through genuine engagement, not channels for their own sake.
